Lululemon – Are They That Good?

Lululemon yoga pants are everywhere in Hong Kong. You see girls wearing them for hikes, yoga classes and more! They look very comfy but once you see the price online, it is over 1000 HKD for a pair! It makes us wonder whether 1000 HKD is a small price to pay for the comfort, or it is a markup for the “community” they promote?

We have decided to invest in a few pieces and review them for science!

Lululemon item #1: Wunder Train High-Rise Tight 25″

Price: $880

Lululemon’s most basic pair of yoga pants

I bought this at the length of 25″ at the height of 160. The sales assistant helped me determine my size and I must say they fit perfectly! My body weight fluctuates but these pants stayed with me despite gaining or losing weight. I think it is because of the Nylon they used to make these pants! They are super stretchy yet still managed to be squat proof! My booty also has a 20% inflation rate with these on!

Lululemon Item #2: Lululemon Align™ High-Rise Pant with Pockets 25″

Price: $1180

Yoga pants with pockets!

The salesperson told me these pants are designed for people who are on-the-go. I do agree that these pants look great with linings that accentuate the booty figure! However I must say these pants are not the best for high intensity workouts. They fit my body but still managed to slip from time to time during intense workout sessions. I do recommend them for daily errands or workouts with lower intensity!

Lululemon Item #3: Invigorate Training Tank Top

Price: $550

Lululemon workout tank top with a built-in bra

This top has a build in bra which saves my laundry from washing bra and a top! I do recommend them because they are very sturdy. I got them on tight and they supported my chest from heavy workouts! The material also feels very smooth and buttery which made it a delight to touch!

For Him:

It would be unfair to comment on Lululemon solely on their female items alone! We saw the male section and found out that their workout pants were $780 without discount. Their tee ranged from $400-780 and it frankly deterred us from shopping their male clothing. However, we did land our eyes on some shirts and pants!

Lululemon Item #4: Airing Easy Short-Sleeve Shirt

Price: $880

Lululemon button down shirt!

We got another sales pitch which sells this piece as something you can wear to work. And we do agree! It is a very easy-care piece as you can throw it in the laundry machine and just hand until it is dry. There are very few creases to tend to that magically disappears once you put the shirt on. It is also quite big boys friendly as the size goes up to XXL!

Lululemon Item #5: Commission Slim-Fit Pant 34″

Price: $1180

Work/Going out pants you can do a squat in!

We were surprised at how comfortable these pants were. You can expect yourself to feel light and you can even try popping a squat to feel how much movement you can do in them! They are quite pricey but if you compare them with other dress pants, they are quite cheap! This is also very easy-care as you don’t need to iron them. Actually the label says do not iron them. They dry quickly and do not trap heat! It is great for Hong Kong’s weather!

Conclusion

We both agree that Lululemon has their marketing strategy right. However, their clothing pieces are very sturdy and built for a good workout. I believe as they do have a lasting nature, the high price tag is worth it. The easy-care, simplistic design also made us an immediate fan!

However, they are not the only clothing brands in Hong Kong! Check out other options here!
